Japan Dollhouse was started in 2025 to provide complete 1/12 scale Japanese dollhouses. Existing Japanese dollhouses were more like models - light and flimsy. I wanted to create robust English/German-style 1/12 scale dollhouses using genuine Japanese materials such as hinoki cypress wood and igusa for the tatami mats. Rather than room-boxes, I wanted to make complete houses that looked like Japanese houses — with roofs. Unlike English/German/American houses, Japanese houses are not tall, so having several floors would be strange. Single-floor dollhouses accessed from the top would be best. Doors and windows slide, just like real Japanese houses!
